Hi, I’m Ruth 👋

  • From my earliest memories, I've been fascinated by how people perceive and interact with the world. That curiosity led me to study creative digital media, where I explored everything from interaction design to immersive VR storytelling.

Before moving into Ed-Tech, I worked as a designer in a virtual reality production company, creating experiences that brought narrative and interaction together in 3D space. It was there that I learned how vital perspective and clarity are to helping users feel in control—lessons I bring into every product I help shape today.

  • My design philosophy centres on clarity, confidence, and care. I aim to reduce cognitive load and build experiences that support users in navigating complexity without friction. Whether someone is exploring new content or managing a workflow, I want the interface to feel like a partner - guiding, not overwhelming.

I’m particularly drawn to systems thinking and the challenge of making scalable design feel human. I care about the details: how an animation softens a transition, how hierarchy helps users breathe, how copy can shift tone without losing clarity.

Empathy lies at the heart of my work. I design with the awareness that behind every screen is a complex, unique individual. This mindset drives me to take a multi-layered approach, crafting products that both fulfill people and integrate seamlessly into their daily lives.

  • I thrive in cross-functional product teams, collaborating closely with engineers, product owners, analysts, and researchers to bring thoughtful, scalable solutions to life. I’m especially comfortable in technical spaces, where I enjoy bridging design with dev and making complex systems feel simple for the end user.

In both remote and hybrid roles, I’ve been honoured to work and collaborate with teammates from all over the world. I value clear communication, documented thinking, and async-friendly workflows that keep momentum going no matter the time zone.

Whether through Figma, FigJam, Jira, Loom, or a well-crafted Slack message, I bring structure, clarity, and care to every stage of the process.

I am a product designer based in Dublin, Ireland with a Master’s in Creative Digital Media from Dublin Institute of Technology.

I’m passionate about creating digital experiences that are intuitive, empowering, and grounded in empathy. Currently designing at Kubicle, where I focus on simplifying learning journeys for global enterprise teams.

Words from Others

Brian Dwyer

As Ruth’s manager, I had the pleasure of seeing her grow into a confident, proactive product designer with a keen eye for UI and a strong grasp of user needs. She brought structure to the team - facilitating meetings, aligning stakeholders, and always staying curious and up to date with industry trends. Her ability to empathize with users and translate that into clear, intuitive design made a real impact. Ruth took ownership, sought out feedback, and continuously pushed both her own growth and the quality of the product forward.

Dave Hart

Ruth is one of the rare designers who truly understands how devs think. Her knowledge of design systems, the DOM, and layout makes implementation seamless. She's collaborative, intuitive, and always puts the user first. Handoffs were smooth, and she could jump into a call and prototype ideas live with no friction.

Dave Hart · Senior Front-End Developer
Fun fact: Dave once debugged a layout issue using only paint.net and instinct.
Merina Leong

When I worked with Ruth, she consistently went above and beyond the expectations of a designer. She wasn’t just a strong team player, she brought sharp insight and deep knowledge of UX and user-centred design to everything she touched. She never hesitated to take initiative, tackling complex challenges head-on and stepping up for projects others avoided due to scope or uncertainty.

Merina Leong · Product Owner & Project Manager

Simon Waldron

Working with Ruth is a dream for any developer. She brings empathy and clarity to every design, and genuinely values collaboration and iteration. Ruth doesn’t just hand off mockups; she actively involves developers in the design process, listening to their input, asking the right questions, and making sure implementation is considered from the start. She’s always happy to jump on a call, work through designs together, or dry-run prototypes with users for feedback. She thrives in remote environments, staying communicative, proactive, and genuinely enjoyable to work with - no matter the time zone.
